Big Brothers Big Sisters is dedicated to creating safe, enduring mentoring relationships that change the lives of children for the better, forever. And we need YOUR help: Over 1,000 children in Maryland are waiting for their Big. Let’s get started! Community-based and Site-based Plus BIGS commit to meet with their Little for at least one calendar year, 2-3 times a month. Community-based Bigs share meaningful activities with their Little in the community. Site-based Plus Bigs will interact with their Little during scheduled site program sessions in addition to meeting for activities in a community setting. Site-based programming is typically held at a designated site such as a school or Y Family Center. -Site-based program sessions will be 1-2 times per month for 45 to 60 minutes. -Sessions are facilitated by BBBSY Site Program Specialists, who provide programming and match support. -Programming takes place in a group setting but there is an emphasis on relationship building within each 1:1 match. Screening: 1. Complete a face-to-face interview (Virtually or In-person) 2. Volunteers must agree to a background check 3. Three references must be provided (supervisor and spouse/partner or family member) 4. Volunteers must complete pre-match training *Additional volunteer policies will be shared during the interview.
