Youth & Government Program Volunteer

Baltimore City

Youth & Government is a program for high school students that encourages them to develop their critical thinking and leadership skills, form and articulate their beliefs, engage constructively with their peers, and learn how a variety of issues in their communities can be addressed using legislation. The Youth & Government Program Volunteer is an adult leader who supports, supervises, and helps train delegates while strengthening the curriculum, trainings, and program operations that make the delegate experience possible. Volunteers serve in both virtual and in-person capacities across the Legislative, Courts, Lobby, and Press program areas. Because delegates should be the program's principal leaders, the volunteer's primary responsibility is to clearly explain program expectations and hold delegates accountable to these standards. All volunteers must be at least 21 years of age; at least one adult volunteer is required for every 15 students.
